Published March 7, 2007 at midnight
BOULDER Seventeen-year-old Bryan Grove told police he choked and
then fatally stabbed his girlfriend's mother in early February, then
recruited a friend to help him stuff the body in the back of a Subaru
in the garage of the dead womans Lafayette home.
Another teen told police that a few hours before the stabbing, Grove
and his girlfriend, Tess Damm, talked in an International House of
Pancakes about how to "take care of" the problem with her mother, who
they described as a raging alcoholic.
Grove's arrest report was made public this morning.
Grove was charged as an adult today with first-degree murder, and his girlfriend, Tess Damm, 15, was charged with conspiracy to commit first-degree murder.
Tess Damm, who also will be charged as an adult, faces additional charges of being an accessory to a crime and tampering with physical evidence. She told police that she just said, "OK, whatever," when they talked about what to do about her mother.
According to Tess arrest report, she told police that she didnt think Bryan would actually kill her mother, when the teens talked on the morning of Feb. 3 at the IHOP.
On Feb. 28, Lafayette police discovered Linda Damms body in the trunk of a Subaru in the garage of her house at 705 W. Brome Place in the Beacon Hill subdivision.
Tess Damm and Bryan Grove had been living in the house for the three weeks between Damms death and the discovery of her body.
Grove told police that he was alone with Linda Damm when he got into an argument with her. She claimed he was the problem between mother and daughter, according to Groves account for police, and he countered that her alcoholism was the source of all the trouble.
The arrest report says Bryan told police that he grabbed
Lindas throat and restrained her against the wall of her
bedroom.
Linda hit him once in the head, and then he forced her down on the bed
face down.
He used a chokehold with his arm around her neck and she eventually went unconscious.
She was still breathing, so he picked up a knife and stabbed her so deeply that he couldnt remove the knife.
He then got a larger kitchen knife and stabbed her several times, twisting it in a grinding motion to cause more damage, the arrest report said.
