City of Denver hires new assessor

Paul Jacobs has been hired as Denvers new assessor. His initial focus will be on completing the 2007 reappraisal of all Denver properties.
Jacobs brings 30 years experience, having managed the reappraisal of
over 2.5 million parcels of real property and introduced digital
imaging and Computer Assisted Mass Appraisal systems to jurisdictions
with property accounts ranging in size from 700 to over 562,000.
In addition to private sector experience, his public sector work
includes director of assessment and building control for Ogden, N.Y.,
and city assessor/director of the bureau of assessment for Rochester,
N.Y. During his tenure in Rochester, Jacobs planned and directed the
citys revaluations programs and Geographic Information System
(GIS) and won several national awards for innovation and technical
achievement.
He fills the assessor position formerly held by John Ragan, who retired
in February after 20 years with the Denver Assessors
Office.
