'RED' AD CAMPAIGN
$18 million has been raised by the "Red" charity advertising campaign launched a year ago and endorsed by celebrities including Bono, Oprah Winfrey, Steven Spielberg, Christy Turlington and Chris Rock. But that pales in comparison to the marketing outlay for the campaign, estimated by some researchers as high as $100 million, according to AdAge.com.
V-ME HITS AIRWAVES
V-me is on the air. The new Spanish-language television network began broadcasting Monday in several cities, including Denver, where its Hispanic-influenced programming is available on PBS station KRMA Channel 6. The network is based in New York.
Of note: V-me is pronounced "veh-meh," from the Spanish veme, for "see me."
CEO DEPARTURES RISE
124 CEO departures announced in February, compared with the 114 announced in January, according to global outplacement consultancy Challenger, Gray & Christmas Inc. The February figure also is higher than the same month a year ago, when 112 CEO changes were announced.
Of note: For the first time since 2005, the average tenure of outgoing CEOs reached double digits - 10.9 years in February.
PRICE OF COFFEE
75 cents a pound is approximately what coffee growers in Fero, in the Sidamo region of Ethiopia, receive for their product. Starbucks, currently in a trademark dispute with the country, has sold the processed product for as much as $13 a half pound.
