Clues sought in fire at church

Published March 6, 2007 at midnight

Investigators have determined that a fire at the Church of the Nazarene in Lakewood on Sunday night started in the bathroom of the day-care area.

What caused the two-alarm fire is still under investigation. Faulty electrical wiring is suspected, but other causes have not been ruled out.

"There was nothing to indicate that it was intentionally set," said Cindy Matthews, spokeswoman for West Metro Fire. No one was hurt in the fire, which was reported at 9:02 p.m. Sunday at the church, 1755 Dover St., but it caused an estimated $200,000 damage.
