Calls for entry, March 6

The Colorado Council on the Arts is reviving the Governor's Arts Awards, which began in 1969 but went into hiatus a few years ago when the council's budget was slashed. Through March 19 (postmark), the council is accepting nominations for the 2007 awards, which may include artists and organizations, corporate and civic leaders; one award will go to a Colorado town or city that has used the arts to enhance quality of life and economic vitality. Elements . . . A Clay Gallery, in Olde Town Arvada, is seeking entries through March 25 for its March 30-April 29 "March Magnets" show. Prospectus/information: arvadaceramicarts.org/elements.html

The South Broadway Christian Church, 23 Lincoln St., is asking local artists to submit work by March 30 for the second annual spring exhibition. The theme this year is "Resurrection: An Art Experience," and eligible work may include paintings, drawings, fine-art prints, photography, sculptures, glass, textiles and poetry. East End Applied Arts has set an April 2 deadline for receiving submissions for the Sept. 14 show "Over the Rainbow," 2- and 3-D works inspired by the film The Wizard of Oz.
