Parker appoints police chief

Acting Police Chief David King has accepted the permanent position of chief for the town of Parker.
"I am extremely proud and honored to be a part of the Parker Police Department and to have been selected to fill this important role," said King. "I would like to thank the staff for their hard work and support during this long transition period."
King, who has been on the Parker force for more than 20 years, has served as the acting chief since May of 2006.
He is a graduate of the FBI National Academy, FBI Law Enforcement Executive Development (LEED) program and the Police Executive Research Forum's (PERF) Senior Management Institute for Police.
King also attended the Supervisory Institute through Metropolitan State College, the Police Management Institute through the University of Southern Colorado and the DEA Drug Unit Commanders Academy.
King will be sworn in March 12 at 5:30 p.m. in the Parker Town Council Chambers, 20120 E. Mainstreet.
