Patton on coaching the Buffs for the final time at Kansas' Allen Fieldhouse
"I told myself I was just going to enjoy coaching in Allen Fieldhouse the last time. And I did. I had a good time coaching that last game, although the outcome (a 97-75 Jayhawks win) wasn't what we wanted. I enjoyed coaching there.
"I have a great appreciation for the fans at Kansas. I think they appreciate good basketball, great effort. I had a number of the fans there wish me well, even after the game, and talk about enjoying my tenure (at CU). I was glad that I at least told myself, 'You know what, I'm going to enjoy this historic building for possibly the last time.'"
Patton on his most memorable Kansas player
"Jacque Vaughn still might be the best guard I've ever seen at running the fast break. With Kansas, I think more about their personnel. ... guys that have come through there. Growing up, one of my all-time favorite players was JoJo White (Jayhawks guard)."
Patton on other Big 12 venues
"When I first got in the league, Iowa State would introduce Johnny Orr with 'Heeeeere's Johnny (at Hilton Coliseum). ... I'll remember Gallagher-Iba (at Oklahoma State), but my favorite from awhile back was the old one at Missouri (Hearnes). I just really thought that had a big-time basketball atmosphere about it. The new one is nice, but the old one was different."
