5 questions for Crush quarterback John Dutton
Published March 3, 2007 at midnight
Quarterback John Dutton, coming off his best season, owns all Crush single-game, season and career passing records. As he prepared to begin his fifth season with the Crush, on Sunday against the Grand Rapids Rampage at the Pepsi Center, Dutton took time to talk with staff writer Jim Benton.
1What do you enjoy the most about playing in the AFL?
Besides the football part, it's the camaraderie with the guys. I love coming in (to Crush facilities), hanging out with the guys and the road trips. That's what makes football great. Football is a total team sport. There is no other sport like that.
2Who would be the other three golfers in your dream foursome?
Probably Tiger (Woods), so he could show me what to do. Jesus, because four hours, that's a lot of talking and questions. My dad. He's bad and I can beat him at golf, so I know I wouldn't be laughed at.
3What do you enjoy doing with your free time during the season?
I just love hanging out with my kids and wife. We do things around town, but I'm kind of a mellow guy, and we have a good time at home.
4Do you play video games after you were pictured on the box of the EA Sports Arena Football game last year?
The only times I really play is on the road. My oldest likes to play some games here and there. He likes to play the football game, and I get on and show him a few things.
5What is behind the gesture of pointing up in the air after throwing touchdown passes?
My faith in Christ. That's the No. 1 thing in my life. Without him, I don't have football, I don't have anything. It's just a reminder to me that I'm not here because of what I do.
