Spring survey of Jewish community will identify metro needs
Published March 2, 2007 at midnight
The first "snapshot" taken in 10 years of the Denver/Boulder Jewish community will begin in mid- March with a telephone survey of more than 100,000 residents, said Ron Miller, research director for the survey firm, Ukeles Associates Inc.
Eventually, 1,200 in-depth interviews of 20 minutes or more will identify programs and services needed for the Jewish community in the coming decade. Miller said the firm expects to have all the interviews completed by mid-June.
The New York-based Ukeles Associates has done about a dozen similar Jewish community surveys around the country since 1989, including Colorado's survey 10 years ago.
Those 1997 findings identified a Jewish community of 63,300 on the Front Range, a 40 percent increase since 1980.
That survey also showed 55 percent of Jews in the metro area are affiliated with a synagogue or other Jewish organization. Among households with children, 91 percent wanted Jewish cultural events available for their family.
