PULLMAN, Wash. - Arron Afflalo scored 14 points to help the Bruins (26-3, 15-2) outlast the Cougars (23-6, 12-5)to wrap up a second consecutive title in the Pacific-10 Conference.
Kyle Weaver scored 14 points for Washington State, which saw its hopes end for the first Pacific-10 title in its history. Josh Shipp added 12 points for
UCLA.
No. 6 Memphis 78, Texas-El Paso 67 EL PASO, Texas
Chris Douglas-Roberts scored 21 points and Jeremy Hunt added 19 to help the Tigers (26-3, 15-0 Conference USA) beat the Miners (14-15, 6-9) for their 18th straight victory.
Georgia Tech 84, No. 8 North Carolina 77 ATLANTA
Thaddeus Young scored a career-high 25 points and Javaris Crittenton handed out 11 assists to help the Yellow Jackets beat the Tar Heels.
Losing consecutive road games in the Atlantic Coast Conference for the first time in three years, North Carolina (24-6, 10-5) missed a chance to hold onto a share of first place in the league after Virginia's win against Virginia Tech.
Anthony Morrow added 18 points for Georgia Tech (19-10, 7-8). Brandan Wright had 22 points to lead North Carolina.
Tyler Hansborough added 16 points and 10 rebounds for the Tar Heels.
Tar Heels coach Roy Williams missed a chance to win his 100th game with North Carolina.
"We were just so bad defensively in the first half, but I still go back and say that just because you're open doesn't mean you make shots, and they made shots," Williams said.
Utah State 79, No. 10 Nevada 77 LOGAN, Utah / Overtime
Chaz Spicer made two free throws with 3.8 seconds to play in overtime to lift the Aggies past the Wolf Pack, ending Nevada's nine-game winning streak.
Stephen DuCharme led Utah State (21-9, 9-7 Western Athletic) with 20 points and took the ball away from Nevada's Nick Fazekas, a Ralston Valley High School graduate, to set up Spicer's winning free throws.
Fazekas finished with 20 points and Marcelus Kemp scored 25 for Nevada (26-3, 13-2).
"We have had a few shovels of dirt thrown on our faces, but this team just keeps coming back," said Utah State coach Stew Morrill, a former coach with Colorado State.
Virginia 69, No. 21 Virginia Tech 56 CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va.
Sean Singletary scored 17 points as the Cavaliers (20-8, 11-4) gained revenge against the Hokies (20-9, 10-5) to move into first place in the ACC.
Virginia (20-8, 11-4), picked to finish eighth in the preseason, finished 8-0 in league play at their new John Paul Jones
Arena.
"It means we've come a long way," Singletary said of the opportunity few thought Virginia could achieve.
"If we can get this win Saturday, it will just be icing on the cake."
Washington 85, No. 23 USC 70 SEATTLE
Ryan Appleby scored 22 points, making five three-pointers, to help the Huskies (17-12, 7-10 Pacific-10) snap a four-game losing streak, rolling over the Trojans (21-9, 11-6) and keeping their slim NCAA Tournament hopes alive.
