NUMBERS GAME
20 wins for Avalanche goalie Peter Budaj, six more than he had last season as a rookie.
STASTNY STREAKING
Avalanche center Paul Stastny drew an assist on Jeff Finger's goal with 17 seconds remaining in the third period to extend his points streak to 14 games.
It's the second-longest streak for a rookie in franchise history, moving him past his uncle, Marian Stastny, who had a 13-game streak with Quebec in 1981. Paul Stastny's father, Peter, holds the record, 16 games, with the Nordiques in 1980.
FIGHT NIGHT
It didn't take long for a fight to break out, but 6-foot-5, 225-pound Scott Parker wasn't involved. Linemate Mark Rycroft, above right, who is 5 inches shorter and about 35 pounds lighter, mixed it up with Danny Richmond at 1:14 of the first period.
"I saw it happening and I'm thinking, 'He's going to take my job and I just got here,' " said Parker, who was acquired Tuesday from San Jose.
Rycroft said he was more pleased about scoring a goal than being in his second fight of the season.
"I think I may have taken more punches than I gave there," he said.
Parker, who played his first four NHL seasons with the Avalanche, logged 7:53 of ice time.
HE SAID IT
"Unbelievable, just a dream come true. It's just unreal."
Finger, who scored his first NHL goal and was a plus-4.
