School bus crash victim out of intensive care

Published March 1, 2007 at midnight

The 18-year-old student who was seriously injured Monday when the school bus she was riding in turned over on Interstate 25 has been released from intensive care.

Leslie Cross is in the surgical unit Medical Center of the Rockies, where she remains in fair condition, according to the Loveland Daily Reporter-Herald.

She was among six students who suffered injuries when the bus, carrying choir members from Poudre High School in Fort Collins, went off the roadway near the Windsor exit and skidded to a stop on its side.

The bus driver, David Hurt, 55, of Fort Collins, has been on paid leave pending the outcome of an investigation. He has driven for the district for three years and had a good record.

The bus was one of two carrying 52 members of the high school choir home after they performed at Boettcher Concert Hall on Sunday night.
