Breckenridge ski area opens extreme terrain

Published March 1, 2007 at midnight

The U.S. Forest Service authorized the opening of the Snow White area at Breckenridge Ski Resort, adding 150 acres of extreme terrain.

White River Forest spokeswoman Sally Spaulding said it can be accessed by a short hike above Breckenridge’s Imperial Express Superchair.

Located adjacent to the Lake Chutes, Snow White is within the permit boundary of the ski area.

"Snow White provides users challenging terrain and offers a unique experience that lift-served terrain cannot," said Dillon District Ranger Rick Newton. "We feel we’re opening this terrain in a manner that is light on the landscape and environment while meeting Breckenridge’s goal of offering a quality, expert skiing experience."
