Adams County issues alert on violent sexual predator

Published March 1, 2007 at midnight

The Adams County Sheriff’s Office issued an alert to be on the lookout for a violent sexual predator that has been seen in the area of West 64th Avenue and Federal Boulevard.

Beecher Cook, 42, has an active warrant out of Denver for failure to register as a sex offender.

The warrant was issued on January 25 and holds a $20,000 bond.

The Adams County Community Resource Team was patrolling the Clear Creek Trail system between Pecos and Federal Boulevard on Feb. 21, when they located a large amount of copper wire that was in the process of being striped.

They discovered evidence that someone had been living in a makeshift camp in the area and located some of Cook’s personal belongings including his Colorado Identification Card and his Social Security Card.

They found that Cook also is listed as a violent sexual predator from the State of Maine.

An investigation disclosed that Cook might have been frequenting some of the adult entertainment establishments along Federal Boulevard.

The Community Resource Team has distributed informational flyers to several businesses on Federal Boulevard from I-70 north to West 72nd Avenue.

"It is our responsibility to provide public notification to keep the citizens of Adams County safe," said Sheriff Douglas Darr.

The Adams County Sheriff’s Office continues its search for Cook and requests the help of anyone who may have seen him.

Cook is described as a white male, 5-feet-9, 230 pounds with brown eyes and black hair.
