Outfielder Seth Smith, who was set to be called up from Triple-A Colorado Springs when rosters expand Saturday, suffered a separated right shoulder on a play when he was diving back to first base against Sacramento

Outfielder Willy Taveras, on a rehabilitation assignment with Colorado Springs in his comeback from a strained right quadriceps, will rejoin the team in Arizona tonight but won't be activated until Saturday, when rosters expand. . . . The Rockies are 14-14 in August, needing to win tonight to have a fourth consecutive winning month for the first time in franchise history. . . . The Rockies are 50-38 since May 22, the best record in the National League, but only 24-21 since the All-Star break. . . . Trachsel in advance of tonight's trading deadline, but no progress has been made. . . . Despite a report on ESPN that left-handed pitcher Brian Fuentes cleared waivers, sources in the organization say he was claimed by six teams, prompting the Rockies to recall him.
