Love triangle at heart of N.C. slayings

Published August 31, 2007 at midnight

RALEIGH, N.C. — The motive for a murder-suicide in a rural part of North Carolina's Wake County may have been the end of a five-year romantic relationship involving a married couple and a single woman who had all lived together.

Jessica Leigh Johnson, 20, and Jason Daniel Sehulster, 34, died Sunday outside a mobile home where Johnson was living.

Alice Ann Sehulster, Jason Daniel Sehulster's wife, said Friday that a relationship between Johnson and the couple had ended a week before.

"He was my husband, and Jessica was my girlfriend," Alice Sehulster said. "We were all three in love."

Sehulster said that Johnson had lived with the couple for five years before moving this month to the mobile home where her mother also lived.

Jason Sehulster was despondent after Johnson left, his wife said.

Authorities think Jason Sehulster shot Johnson, then turned the gun on himself.

She said Jason Sehulster likely didn't mean to hurt Johnson.

"She was a one-of-a-kind of girl," Alice Sehuslster said.

"My husband loved us to death."
