GOT THEIR GOATS . . . AND THEN SOME
$412,950 is the record-setting amount raised by the Colorado State Fair Junior Livestock Sale.
Fair General Manager Chris Wiseman said Tuesday that the sale surpassed the former high total by more than $75,000. The increase was credited to a healthy rise in the number of goats shown and the intense bidding.
AND THIS DIDN'T HURT
$50,000 was the winning bid for 15-year-old Lisa Reid's grand champion crossbred steer. The buyers were Jake Jabs of American Furniture Warehouse, Dean Singleton of MediaNews Group Inc., Larry Mizel of MDC Holdings Inc. and Rick Sapkin of Delemont Development. Fair officials said it was the highest price for a steer in more than 20 years.

RE: YOUR MONEY OR YOUR LIFE
An e-mail scam that threatens recipients with their lives has been reported in at least one Colorado county.
Officials in Mesa County said deputies took the first report over the weekend. According to the FBI, the author claims to have a contract to kill the person receiving the e-mail and demands money to stop the contract from being carried out.
