Ritzenhein finishes ninth in 10,000
Former University of Colorado athlete Dathan Ritzenhein finished ninth Monday in the men's 10,000-meter final at the World Track and Field Championships in Osaka, Japan, clocking 28 minutes, 29.59 seconds in a race won by Ethiopia's Kenenisa Bekele in 27:05.9.
"I have to go back and look at my training to see what I can do differently," Ritzenhein said. "I didn't think anybody would take it out hard (Monday)."

Aaron Fitzgerald won the men's portion of the Tiger Prowl 5-kilometer race Sunday in Lakewood, finishing in 18:16. Carolyn Brug won the women's race in 19:57.
ALL-PCL Colorado Springs Sky Sox first baseman Joe Koshansky and reliever Ryan Speier have been named to the All-Pacific Coast League team.
RIVER CATS CRUISE Dallas Braden threw a three-hit shutout as the PCL's Sacramento River Cats won 3-0 against the Sky Sox in West Sacramento,
Calif., on Monday night.
AUSTIN LEADS Christie Austin of Cherry Hills Country Club fired a first-round 75 to take a two- shot lead Monday in the Colorado Women's Golf Association Senior Stroke Play Championship at the Broadmoor Golf Club's West Course.
BROWN QUALIFIES Highlands Ranch resident David Brown took medalist honors with 69 in sectional qualifier for the U.S. Mid-Amateur Championship.
