Published August 28, 2007 at midnight

A 6 1/2-mile chase ended in the arrest of a man and a woman after Brighton police answered a burglar alarm at an auto sales firm about 5:30 a.m. Monday.

The suspects were identified as Ronald Newman, 27, who told police he was homeless, and Sally Espinosa, 31, of Broomfield. They were jailed on suspicion of vehicular eluding, resisting arrest, first-degree criminal trespass, second-degree criminal trespass and theft by receiving over $20,000.

When officers answered the alarm at ATM Auto Sales, 189 N. Kuner Road, they saw a man jump into a white pickup driven by a woman, said Brighton police spokesman John Bradley.

The officers gave chase as the pickup headed north on Kuner, crossed U.S. 85 then headed north into Fort Lupton on Weld County Road 27, Bradley said.
