A 3-year-old boy who fell from a third-story window Friday near Telluride has died, authorities said.
Owen Lane, of Missoula, Mont., who had been airlifted to St. Mary's Hospital in Grand Junction, died Saturday, the San Miguel Sheriff's Department said.
The Sentinel said the unidentified boy was standing on a chair by the window and fell through the screen at a home near Mountain Village, which is about six miles southwest of Telluride.
Sheriff's spokeswoman Jennifer Dinsmore told the Sentinel the boy tumbled about 25 feet in what she called "a terrible accident." She said the boy hit his head in a rock garden.
"His parents are donating his organs to the Donor Alliance," coroner Bob Dempsey said today.
The boy's parents, Mark and Elizabeth Lane, have returned to Montana to make funeral arrangements, Dinsmore said.
The Daily Sentinel and Associated Press contributed to this report.
