GRAND JUNCTION - Pat Kremer is tired of losing.
The Standley Lake senior is ready to be on a winner and experience the Class 4A state football playoffs.
"Coach (Don) Morse came in my freshman year and said, 'You will be the class that gets it done.' " Kremer said. "We worked hard in the offseason and dropped our 40(-yard dash) time. We want to make the playoffs. We have high expectations."
Kremer and the Gators took the first step, starting their season with a 36-6 victory against Grand Junction Central on Friday on Stocker Stadium's new synthetic grass surface.
Kremer led the way, rushing for 47 yards and two touchdowns and catching one pass for a 34-yard touchdown.
"We had a good first half," Kremer said. "The defense stepped up and the offense executed great in the first half."
Kremer capped the Gators' second drive of the game with a 10-yard touchdown run.
Standley Lake (1-0) scored again on its next drive on quarterback Dennis Miller's 1- yard run. Running back Kyle Duran made it 19-0 with 1:01 left with a 2-yard run.
Standley Lake rushed for 228 yards in the first half and had 353 of its 402 yards in total offense in the first half.
The Warriors (0-1) were limited to 138 yards in total offense.
