Business owners: Julie Scott and Sandy Sartor

Tidbits: Believe it or not, your child can have fun learning addition.

No, seriously. It just takes the right formula.

"Our philosophy is 'Look plus Listen equals Learning,' " said co-owner, co-creator and co-musician Julie Scott. "Not every child can learn math visually, which is where our book and music enters."

Scott and partner Sandy Sartor's first product, Listen in Addition, is a book and CD that focuses on numbers zero to 10, and addition equations using those numbers. Simply pop in the CD, open the little book full of colorful numeric characters and let your child cha-cha-cha with No. 2 and Boogie Oogie Oogie with No. 5.

"We wanted to make music that was really good, and fun to listen to for the child and adult," Scott said. "We teamed with Colorado musicians and children from Boulder to record the eclectic music, and we go through the equations twice in each song."

Scott and Sartor are working on a multiplication book and CD, scheduled for release early next year.

Harrison Dog helps Lester with his physical health; Belinda Cat shows Lester how to creatively express his emotions; Dara Turtle teaches Lester to practice yoga for his mental health; and Steven Eagle works with Lester on his spiritual health by demonstrating environmental responsibility.

"We wanted to create materials for kids, teaching them about all aspects of health from a holistic point of view," said co-owner and creator Kim Eickhoff. "As Lester is learning about the different stages of health from the four other characters, so are children."

Lester and his friends are available in a book, and as a multimedia bundle that includes the book, a coloring book and a CD-ROM featuring an interactive version of the story with three songs written by Kim Eickhoff and sung by co-owner Renee Eickhoff.
