NUMBERS GAME
0 home runs for the Rockies in the final two games against the Pirates. The Rockies hit five home runs in the first two games, including four in a win Tuesday. It marks the first time since games against St. Louis and Cincinnati on May 31 and June 1 the team has gone consecutive home games without a home run.
MEDICAL WARD
After discovering more extensive damage than first feared, the surgery endured by right-hander Rodrigo Lopez proved more difficult than planned.
He had his flexor tendon repaired but also had "Tommy John" surgery Wednesday in Los Angeles to replace a ligament in his right elbow.
Lopez, a pending free agent put on the disabled list Aug. 2 retroactive to July 27, likely will miss most, if not all, of the 2008 season.
Additionally, right-hander Greg Reynolds, the Rockies' first-round draft pick in 2006 (second overall), will undergo exploratory arthroscopic surgery on his throwing shoulder today at the Steadman Hawkins Clinic to find out if he has a torn labrum.
Reynolds went 4-1 with a 1.42 ERA in eight starts this season with Double-A Tulsa but had not pitched since June 19 because of an inflamed rotator cuff.
Typical recovery time for a torn labrum is eight to 10 months.
