HEALING PROCESS

Right-hander Jason Hirsh said he can play catch with no pain, but when he gets active, he can feel the broken right fibula that forced him on the disabled list. Hirsh said he will have an X-ray later this week.

"I can't get the (body) rotation used in throwing (pitches), but I can play catch and do flat ground work," Hirsh said. "I want to try and keep my arm in shape because when I am ready, the Triple-A season will probably be over so I will have to get ready with bullpen sessions and facing some hitters in batting practice."

BIG HIT

4 hitting streaks of 10 games or more for left fielder Matt Holliday this season. Holliday extended his hitting streak Tuesday to 11 games. He had a 15-game hitting streak May 22 to June 8, tied with Willy Taveras for the longest of the season for a Rockies player.

HE SAID IT

"Any time you lose in a pennant race, there is a stinging. We have to learn to play with the stinging because we're going to be in pennant races for some time to come."

Clint Hurdle, Rockies manager, on recent losses.
