Fort Carson is holding a ceremony this morning for the deployment of the 1st Squadron, 6th Cavalry Regiment to Iraq.

The air-cavalry squadron from "The Fighting Sixth" will "case the unit's colors" during the formal farewell at Fort Carson's Butts Army Airfield beginning at 10 a.m.

During its Operation Iraqi Freedom tour, the helicopter squadron will provide air reconnaissance and combat support for coalition forces.
