Meetings to focus on changes in zoning code

Published August 21, 2007 at midnight

The city of Denver is holding a series of meetings, starting tomorrow, to give residents a progress report on the zoning code update.

A new zoning approach to protecting established neighborhood character in so-called areas of stability will be among the topics of discussion at the meetings.

The city is studying its neighborhoods and developing zoning standards that "match up more with the patterns of neighborhoods that we already have," said Peter Park, manager of Community Planning and Development.

"If there's going to be change, it's more sensitive to the existing desired pattern that we have in our established neighborhoods," he said.

The meetings will be held in the following locations:

Central 4:30-6 p.m. Wednesday, Colorado Convention Center, 700 14th St., Room 301.

Southeast 6:30-8 p.m. Wednesday, South High School, 1700 E. Louisiana Ave.

Southwest 6:30-8 p.m. Thursday, Abraham Lincoln High School, 2285 S. Federal Blvd.

Northwest 6:30-8 p.m. Aug. 29, Lake Middle School, 1820 Lowell Blvd.

Northeast 6:30-8 p.m. Aug. 30, William Roberts School, 2100 Akron Way.
