Woman, 3 kids hurt in Adams crash; drugs probed
Published August 20, 2007 at midnight
A Byers woman may have been under the influence of drugs when she was involved in a wreck over the weekend that sent her and three of her passengers to the hospital, some in critical condition, the Colorado State Patrol said.
Gilbert Mares, a spokesman for the State Patrol, identified the driver as 30-year-old Christina Galvin.
Galvin was northbound Saturday on Behrens Road toward East 112th Avenue in Adams County and "failed to yield at an intersection," according to the State Patrol.
Galvin hit a pickup that was westbound on East 112th Avenue, the State Patrol said.
Her vehicle went off the north side of the road and rolled once, landing on its wheels. The pickup also went off the road and flipped on its side.
An ambulance took Galvin, who was in critical condition, to the Medical Center of Aurora South Campus, the State Patrol said. Three passengers in her vehicle also were taken to local hospitals.
A 35-year-old Aurora man identified as Jeremiah Galvin was airlifted to the Medical Center of Aurora South Campus, and a 9-year-old Byers boy, identified as Bryan Galvin, was airlifted to Children's Hospital.
A third passenger, 7-year-old Christopher Galvin, of Byers, also was transported by ambulance to the Medical Center of Aurora South Campus. He had minor injuries.
The driver of the pickup was not injured, the State Patrol said.
A spokeswoman for the Medical Center of Aurora said Sunday that Christina Galvin was upgraded to stable condition, and Christopher Galvin was treated and released the same day.
The conditions of Jeremiah Galvin and Bryan Galvin were unknown Sunday.
Mares said everyone involved in the accident was a wearing a seatbelt. The relationship between the people in Christina Galvin's vehicle was not clear Sunday, Mares said.
No charges have been filed. Toxicology tests are pending, Mares said.
