Warren still could remain on roster early next week

IRVING, Texas - Despite all indications otherwise in the past week, Broncos coach Mike Shanahan left open the possibility defensive tackle Gerard Warren could still be on the Broncos roster - and on the practice field - when the team returns to workouts Monday.
"Sure, he could," Shanahan responded when asked after practice Friday at the Cowboys' Valley Ranch complex. "A lot depends on what happens in the game, with injuries, how people play and also what kind of interest there is out there, but (Warren practicing Monday) is certainly a possibility."
The Broncos also have extended the invitation for Warren to use the team's facilities to work out again, starting Friday, if he wanted to do so. Warren has informed the team he has been running on his own.
The Broncos have spent much of the past week or so trying to trade Warren, but no other team has been willing to part with a draft pick that satisfies the Broncos. Warren remained behind when the Broncos played in San Francisco on Monday night and remained behind when the team came to Texas for the week.
If the Broncos don't believe a trade is forthcoming in the coming days, there still are those in the organization who believe Warren then will be released.
The Redskins are one of the teams the Broncos are talking to. The Colts, who lost defensive tackle Anthony McFarland for the season because of an injury, are believed to be interested in Warren if the Broncos release him.
