2 suspects in Arvada death are arrested near Phoenix

Published August 18, 2007 at midnight

Two men wanted in connection with last month's slaying of a man at an Arvada apartment were captured this week in Arizona, police said.

Authorities continued to search for a third alleged assailant, Richard F. Regalado, 29, who also may be hiding out in Arizona, police said. Regalado is being sought on suspicion of first-degree murder in the shooting death of Shawn J. Rodriguez, 19.

Armed with warrants, Arvada detectives, who were assisted by police from Buckeye and Goodyear, suburbs west of Phoenix, arrested Tomas A. Garrison, 22, and Jeffrey A. Wright, 25, at a home in Buckeye early Thursday.

Arvada police said Garrison was being held on suspicion of first-degree murder and Wright was being detained for investigation of being an accessory to first-degree murder.

Detectives also arrested a 26-year-old woman on unrelated offenses. She was not identified.

The victim was found gunned down in the Castlegate apartments in the 7000 block of West 84th Way on July 2. Detectives did not find any sign of a forced entry into the victim's apartment, and they think that he may have known his attackers, police said.
