Virtual game, real ring

The action in Madden might not be real, but that championship ring you win at the end of the video game's Super Bowl now can be.
Electronic Arts is teaming with ring maker Jostens to bring a bit of its game out into the real world.
Gamers who achieve enough in the virtual world of Madden can purchase some real bling from the famous maker of actual Super Bowl rings.
"We wanted our gamers to have something tangible to recognize their achievements within Madden NFL 08 and we kept coming back to Super Bowl rings," said Madden NFL 08 Lead Producer David Ortiz.
"We wanted to remain authentic to the real Super Bowl ring, therefore we forged a great partnership with Jostens to allow our gamers to proudly display their Madden NFL 08 skills."
In the game, a player's performance is tracked by a virtual "Ring of a Champion." The better the player performs, the better the virtual ring starts to look. And once players reach Level Three in the game they are given a special code that can be used to purchase a customized ring from Jostens' Web site.
Players can choose from one of three ring designs made of either nonprecious metal or 10-karat gold. The rings can be further customized by displaying one of 32 NFL team logos in either faux or real gemstones on the top, one of 19 EA logos on one side and the gamer's achievement level on the other.
The rings cost $150 to about $500, and that's without the real diamonds.
