Tidbits: Caution: Lucky Threadz clothing features edgy graphics and verbiage meant to amuse, shock and, in one instance, cause you to ponder the age-old question "Why do chickens always look so serious?"
Four years ago co-owner Mike Kwesell started designing and making T-shirts for local bars and clubs using a homemade printing press. It wasn't long after he partnered with Jacob Seymour that he took his small business to the Internet. Surprised by their success, they restructured the company, turning it into Lucky Threadz.
"Now we contract with graphic designers all over the world," Kwesell said. "We receive and look at new art every day, but some designs are done in-house."
The company starts with blank 100 percent ring-spun cotton garments. The artwork and the company logo are then printed in-house on a piece of clothing as soon as an order is placed, which means your royal blue, "The Amazing Spider-Pig" T-shirt is produced just for you.
"The only inventory we have is the blank garments in several colors," Kwesell added. "Everything is created on demand."

Twist
Eco-friendly household cleaning products
Price: Varies by retailer and product
Where you can get it: Natural-food stores and McGuckin Hardware
Business owners: Brian Ross and Egil Wigert
Location: Boulder
Tidbits: Ross and co-owner Wigert launched Twist this spring with the idea of making aesthetically pleasing, functional household cleaning products, with an emphasis on eco-friendly.
According to Ross, he and his partner chose sponges as a place to start, having decided that the sponge hadn't received the same innovation over the years as its household-cleaning shelf mates.
The company offers three products: the Euro Cloth and Euro Sponge, which are made of cellulose sourced from Norwegian renewable tree farms, and the Loofah Sponge, also made of cellulose featuring a Loofah scrubber on one side. The products contain a standard anti-bacterial agent, and the sponges and cloth last from three to eight weeks, depending on use and care.
For an additional twist, each product comes in a package that can be converted into a bird feeder.
