Rockies first pitch

UNDECIDED
Left-hander Franklin Morales is in line to be called up from Triple-A Colorado Springs and make his major league debut in a start against the Dodgers on Saturday, but nothing is definite.
The Rockies also are considering using a tandem of Taylor Buchholz and Ramon Ortiz, acquired Wednesday from Minnesota, in that game, depending on the use of the bullpen before Saturday.
Ortiz is expected to join the team at Dodger Stadium tonight. Ortiz flew to Minnesota from Seattle, where the Twins were playing at the time of the trade, so he could take care of family matters.
"We are taking it day by day,'' manager Clint Hurdle said of plans for Saturday. "We have a couple options internally and we will see if there is something better than those two.''
HE SAID IT
"We still have to work to. This is OK, but it is not good enough."
Clint Hurdle, on the Rockies being in contention for the postseason.
BIG HIT
Rookie Ian Stewart is 2-for-2 as a pinch hitter, including the go-ahead two-run single on an 0-2 pitch from Cla Meredith on Wednesday.
Hurdle said given the Triple-A season ends in about two weeks, he isn't worried about Stewart's development being slowed by sitting on the bench in the majors.
"The experience he will get here he definitely can get down there,'' Hurdle said. "That was a very good experience for him (Wednesday) night."
