Emanuelson received some concise business advice from two former bosses early in his career.

"The first piece came from the president of the company I was working for when he asked me take the Memphis market," Emanuelson said. "The second piece came from the former president and chief executive officer of Anthem, who felt it was important we listen to customers and heed their needs, wants and advice."

Emanuelson said he's applied both pieces of advice to his career, adding that the words have helped him be externally focused to achieve success.
