Smoke temporarily halts light rail downtown
Published August 16, 2007 at midnight
Smoke coming from a cable in an underground power station forced RTD to temporarily shut down light-rail service in downtown Denver this afternoon.
Service was interrupted for about 15 minutes, but trains resumed running about 2:30 p.m., RTD spokesman Scott Reed said.
Firefighters responded to a call of smoke coming from an underground power station at Stout and 14th streets, and found that one its cables was smoking, Reed said.
Light-rail trains travel along Stout and 14th streets. The fire
department then asked RTD to temporarily stop service as it
investigated.
