School board boss accused of giving booze to Granby grads

A top school official in Granby has been charged with providing beer and hard liquor to graduating seniors at a party he hosted last June.

Mark Bujanovich, president of the East Grand School board in Granby, was served with a summons Aug. 6 charging him with six counts of providing alcohol to minors.

The party took place June 2 on Vagabond Ranch, a property that Bujanovich manages in the high country north of Granby.

Grand County Sheriff Rod Johnson said his office got wind of the booze party June 14.

"This is a small community and you can't keep it a secret," he said. "Especially when it's a person of that stature, it gets around pretty fast."

Bujanovich is not only school board president, but sits on the board of trustees for Granby.

Johnson said he knew of one mishap that resulted from the teenage drinking.

"One of the kids was doing a back flip over a fire and broke his leg," he said.

Bujanovich is due back in court Sept. 10.
