18-day Colorado DUI crackdown starts Friday

Published August 15, 2007 at midnight

CDOT and Colorado law enforcement agencies announced the start of an 18-day crackdown on drunk driving today.

As part of the national "Over the limit, under arrest," campaign, the Colorado State Patrol and agencies throughout the state will step up their patrols through Labor Day.

"We are planning on participating," Colorado State Patrol spokesman Gilbert Mares said. "Usually around these holidays, we see more traffic on the roadway, and we'll be stepping up our patrols there on DUI enforcement."

The campaign starts at 6 p.m. Friday and will run until 3 a.m. Sept. 4.
