NUMBERS GAME
40 doubles for Matt Holliday, tying him with Dan Uggla for second in the National League, one behind injured Chase Utley. Holliday has seven doubles in his past 12 games.
The only players in franchise history with 50 doubles in a season are Todd Helton (59 in 2000 and 54 in 2001) and Jeff Cirillo (53 in 2000).
HONORED
Rookie shortstop Troy Tulowitzki was selected co-winner of the NL Player of the Week award with left-handed pitcher Tom Gorzelanny of Pittsburgh.
Tulowitzki is the third Rockies player to win the award this year, joining Brad Hawpe (June 3) and Matt Holliday (July 29).
Tulowitzki, the Rockies' first-round draft pick and seventh player taken overall in the 2005 draft, hit .483 with 12 RBI, 14 hits and 27 total bases, all tops in the NL.
He hit three home runs and four doubles with a .931 slugging percentage, .531 on-base percentage and scored seven runs.
STELLAR GROUP
The Rockies bullpen has a 3.99 ERA, the lowest it has been since April 25 (3.86), and a 1.17 ERA (six runs in 46 innings) during the past 13 games.
"Man to man, the versatility we have - I've never seen anything like it," said reliever Matt Herges, 37, right, who has pitched for seven teams. "We've got how many guys down there that have closed games in the big leagues? That's huge." The group includes Jorge Julio, LaTroy Hawkins, Jeremy Affeldt, Brian Fuentes, Manny Corpas and Herges.

"I expect Brian to get back on track. And I expect to have dual weapons out there late."
Clint Hurdle, Rockies manager, on the return today of Brian Fuentes, right, who had lost his closer's role before getting injured in early July and will set up Corpas, who has gone 9-for-9 in save situations in Fuentes' absence.
