THE ULTIMATE BAND AID

We at Extra! enjoy kicking back on Sunday nights - unless we're working, of course - and basking in the Kiwi humor of Flight of the Conchords, a new HBO comedy that follows the misadventures of a two-man band from New Zealand. So we were excited when our friends down at YourHub.com dug up quite the scoop on one of the show's actors.

Mel, the hyper (and quite possibly only) fan of the band, comes from our very own backyard. Actress Kristen Schaal grew up on a farm in Longmont. So, if New Zealand accents and a song about Hiphoppotamus vs. Rhymenocerous aren't enough to hook you, maybe seeing a Coloradan pine after two musicians (and we use the term loosely) will.

CLIMBERS GIVE STATE A BOOST

It looks like climbing a Fourteener is not only fun for the climber, but it kicks a couple hundred dollars into the state's economy, too.

$221 is the median amount a climber spends on a trip ($191 of that spent within 25 miles of the peak), according to new research by a Colorado State University professor.
