NUMBERS GAME
12 RBI during the past six games for rookie shortstop Troy Tulowitzki. Tulowitzki went 2-for-5 with three RBI on Sunday and hit his 15th home run, breaking a tie with Matt Holliday for the second-most homers by a rookie in Rockies history. Todd Helton hit 25 in 1998.
ONE AND DONE
Tim Harikkala's second stint with the Rockies lasted one day.
The 36-year-old right- hander, signed to a minor league contract July 27, was asked to lend a bandage to the injury-depleted rotation in his first major league start since June 19, 1996.
Harikkala was designated for assignment after he allowed three earned runs and nine singles, few of which were hit hard, in 3 1/3 innings.
Harikkala was pitching in his third season in South Korea before signing with the Rockies but accepted the move in stride.
He said he would join Triple-A Colorado Springs if, as expected, he is not claimed on waivers.
"I told (manager) Clint (Hurdle) I'm not really a starter at the major league level," Harikkala said. "I'm more looking for a bullpen spot, like the way they're using (Taylor) Buchholz right now. They were nice enough to bring me back into the organization. Hopefully, I'll pitch well enough down there to come back in September and help them out."
Hurdle said the team would continue to evaluate its options for the rotation's fifth spot, which comes up Saturday in Los Angeles.
STREAKING
Holliday went 2-for-4 with one RBI and finished the seven-game homestand with a .385 average (10-for-26). Holliday has reached base in 19 consecutive games and is hitting .419 (26-for-62) during his past 16 games.
