A SIMPLER LIFE
The compact Katrina Cottage was designed as an alternative to FEMA housing after Hurricane Katrina, but it's now becoming a popular design in the South Main development in Buena Vista.
Conceived by Marianne Cusato, the Katrina Cottage is touted as an easy-living home for those who want to focus more on life and less on paying the mortgage on a huge house.
Besides living small with less environmental impact, buyers of a Katrina Cottage in South Main get a free cruiser bike to get around on.

DON'T FORGET FIDO
54 incidents of dogs being left unattended inside sweltering cars were reported last month in Boulder. One of the dogs died, authorities said.
As a result, police have begun ticketing cars with animals left alone inside. On Saturday, they responded to three calls, including a car with an interior temperature of 109 degrees.
Janee Teague, supervisor of Boulder Animal Care and Control, says if you must leave your pets in the car be sure to:
Crack the windows;
Provide them water;
Park in the shade;
Be away for no more than five minutes.
