Women's Match Play won by Ferguson

Colorado State athlete Stefanie Ferguson won the Colorado Women's Golf Association Match Play Championship with a 2-up victory against University of Denver athlete Dawn Shockley on Friday.

In the senior championship at Woodmoor Pines Golf and Country Club in Monument, Castle Rock resident Jenna Zamprelli won 1-up against Highlands Ranch golfer Katherine Avery.

NLL SHOWCASE CANNED The National Lacrosse League's Outdoor Showcase game, set for Sept. 1 at Dick's Sporting Goods Park in Commerce City, has been canceled by the Colorado Mammoth and Kroenke Sports Enterprises.

The culprit: the unavailability of many key players.

Fans who purchased tickets by credit card will receive refunds to their cards automatically. Other ticket holders should receive refunds at Dick's Sporting Goods Park.

ALL ON THE LINE Major League Lacrosse's Denver Outlaws still have plenty to play for today.

The afternoon road game against the San Francisco Dragons at Kezar Stadium will determine a playoff seeding for the Outlaws (7-4).

And a win for the Outlaws, in conjunction with a loss for the Los Angeles Riptide (8-3), would give the Western Conference title to Denver for the second consecutive year.

RUSH WORKS Ralston Valley High School athlete Hayley Coniglio, Mountain Vista's Kendra Pemberton and Cherry Creek's Kelly McDermott scored goals to lead the Colorado Rush under-16 girls soccer team to a 3-2 victory against the Cupertino, Calif.- based De Anza Force on Friday in the Red Bull National League's inauguaral tournament in Danville, Calif.

Kylie Ladenburger scored the lone goal for the Real Colorado national under-16 girls in a 1-1 tie with St. Louis SC.

Lewis-Palmer High's Virginia Limbird and Evergreen's Haley Stading scored goals, but their Colorado Rush under-15 girls team lost 3-2 to the Force.

EXPECTING Vail skier Sarah Schleper, a three-time Olympian for the United States, will miss the 2008 World Cup season because she is expecting a baby early next year, the U.S. Ski Team announced.

The four-time U.S. slalom champion, 28, sat out the 2007 season while recuperating from surgery to repair a torn anterior cruciate ligament in her left knee.

OPENERS SET The Central Hockey League champion Colorado Eagles will start their 2007-08 season on the road against the Arizona Sundogs on Oct. 19 in Prescott Valley, Ariz.

The Broomfield-based Rocky Mountain Rage will begin its season the same night, on the road against the Odessa Jackalopes.

The Eagles will host the Tulsa Oilers on Oct. 24 for their first home game at the Budweiser Events Center in Loveland.

The Rage will have its home opener Oct. 26 against Tulsa at the Broomfield Event Center.

SKY SOX WIN Jayson Nix and Alexis Gomez each recorded three RBI and Elmer Dessens earned his second win, leading the Colorado Springs Sky Sox to a 9-5 home victory against the Tacoma Rainiers in a Pacific Coast League game.

The Sky Sox will host the Rainiers again at 7:05 tonight.
