Southbound Colorado Blvd. closed at 10th

Published August 10, 2007 at midnight

Southbound Colorado Boulevard between 10th and 11th Avenues is closed today and could remain closed through the evening, thanks to a burst water main.

"We got a call at about 10:25, and the break occurred on a 16-inch water main," said Denver Water spokeswoman Trina McGuire-Collier. "That's a pretty good-sized water line."

Crews have shut off the water around the line and have begun working to determine what caused the break.

"That helps a lot, and we can move along with repairs much more quickly now," she said.

Crews hope to have southbound Colorado Boulevard open to at least one lane of traffic before the evening rush, McGuire-Collier said.

Aside from a vacant high-rise closed for renovations, no buildings have been affected, she said.
