NUMBERS GAME

11 extra-base hits by the Rockies during their 19-4 win Wednesday, matching the franchise record with seven doubles, three home runs and one triple. The Rockies also recorded 11 extra-base hits June 18, 2000, at home against Arizona and Aug. 3, 2003, at Pittsburgh.

SHUFFLING

Opting to stick with the original plan of letting Chris Iannetta regroup with regular at-bats at Triple-A Colorado Springs, the Rockies recalled catcher Alvin Colina from the Sky Sox before the game Wednesday.

Colina replaced Edwin Bellorin, whose contract had been purchased before the game Monday after the struggling Iannetta was optioned back down to the Sky Sox. Bellorin, though, suffered a strained left hamstring during his major league debut Tuesday and was placed on the 15-day disabled list.

Colina hit .204 with five home runs and 29 RBI in 64 games with Colorado Springs and went 1-for-5 in two late-season appearances with the Rockies last year.

"(Colina) has been challenged in some areas," manager Clint Hurdle said. "He's working hard. There's room for improvement. This is more of a stopgap thing, I would say, and that's probably all I'll say right now."

RECOVERING

Injured left-handed closer Brian Fuentes, who has been on the disabled list since July 13 (retroactive to July 4) because of a strained muscle under his left armpit, will begin a rehabilitation assignment with Colorado Springs on Friday.

Fuentes will start the Sky Sox's home game against Tacoma and will be re-evaluated Saturday. Barring setbacks, Fuentes will throw out of the bullpen against Tacoma on Sunday.
