Bailey school shooting report open to public

Published August 9, 2007 at midnight

The Park County Sheriff's Office today is making available to the public a five-volume report on the 2006 fatal shooting of a Platte Canyon High School student by a disturbed gunman who took his own life.

Duane Morrison, 53, a suicidal drifter, took Emily Keyes and six other girls hostage in a classroom Sept. 27, molesting some of the girls.

As a SWAT team used explosives to enter the classroom, Morrison shot at officers, then killed 16-year-old Keyes and himself.

The public can review the report from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Bailey sheriff's substation, 59865 U.S. Highway 285.

Officials say much of the content of the report has been reported by the media.
