Spinelli's yearly picnic celebrates new products

Published August 8, 2007 at midnight

If you don't have plans for dinner Friday, consider the annual neighborhood potluck honoring the romance between Spinelli's Market and its Park Hill neighbors.

It's 6 to 9 p.m. in Ferguson Park, on the southeast corner of East 23rd Avenue and Dexter Street.

But don't come empty-handed.

Folks pour into the park bearing salads, antipasti platters, vegetable sides and desserts to share.

For their part, Jerry and Mary Ellen Spinelli provide cold beverages and fire up the grill for sausage-and-pepper sandwiches, burgers, hot dogs and bratwurst.

This is the picnic's 13th year, and there's a special reason to celebrate this time around.

Spinelli's has just introduced a line of bottled sauces and dressings, launching with two pasta sauces, Classic Marinara and Creamy Tomato Vodka Sauce, $6.99 per 26-ounce jar, and a Caesar salad dressing, $5.99 per 12-ounce bottle, made with fresh ingredients that make it necessary for the dressing to be refrigerated even before the bottle is opened.

Besides Spinelli's Market, 4621 E. 23rd Ave., 303-329-8143, the products are sold at Marczyk Fine Foods, metro-area Wild Oats Markets and Simple Foods.
