Rockies first pitch

SETBACK
Center fielder Willy Taveras as out of the lineup Tuesday, the soreness in his right quadriceps that sidelined him the first few days of July having flared up again.
Taveras said the quadriceps began to bother him during the weekend series in Atlanta.
"I want to be in, and with the way we are, this is really tough, but my legs are my game," he said. "I have to get them healthy."
SHORT START
Catcher Edwin Bellorin waited more than eight years for his major league debut. After four innings, he was gone. Bellorin, called up to replace Chris Iannetta on Monday, was in the lineup Tuesday, but he suffered a strained left hamstring trying to beat out what was an inning-ending double play grounder in the second.
The Rockies could recall Iannetta today. The rule requiring a player to be sent out for a minimum of 10 days is waived in the case of an injury.
He caught in the third and fourth innings, but Yorvit Torrealba replaced him to start the fifth.
HEALING
Left-handed reliever Brian Fuentes, out since July 4 with a strained muscle under his left armpit, threw 25 pitches to Bellorin and infielder Jeff Baker without any physical problems.
Manager Clint Hurdle said a decision will be made today on the next step for Fuentes, but the hope is Fuentes can go on a rehabilitation assignment with Triple-A Colorado Springs this weekend and be activated when the Rockies open a trip Tuesday in San Diego.
The Rockies, meanwhile, are watching the waiver wire for possible pitching help, and they have interest in St. Louis right-hander Kip Wells, who they could put in the bullpen and have available for an emergency start.
