Marital spat turns ugly outside metro bar
Published August 6, 2007 at midnight
It began with late-night patrons at the Goal Line Bar telling a guy he was being "too aggressive" in urging his wife to leave.
Then, as the irked man departed by himself, another customer aggressively pursued the husband outside and attacked him as about 30 "observers" encircled the pair, said Arapahoe County Sheriff Grayson Robinson.
Deputies called to the Centennial sports bar shortly before midnight Saturday found the husband lying unconscious in the parking lot with a head injury.
The victim, a 27-year-old Centennial man, remained in a local hospital today, Robinson said. The sheriff wouldn't name the man, citing federal patient confidentiality laws.
During the initial argument with his wife, the husband was urging her, 'It's time to go. Come on, we're leaving,'" the sheriff said.
After other revelers told the husband to back off, another man tailed him outside, followed by the throng.
Investigators arrested Jason Michael McCord, 24, Sunday afternoon at his home. McCord has been charged with felony second-degree assault and is being held in the Arapahoe County Jail on $50,000 bond.
