Frontier CEO to take over Exclusive Resorts

Published August 6, 2007 at midnight

Now we know where Jeff Potter is going.

The outgoing Frontier Airlines CEO will join Exclusive Resorts, the company that rents luxury vacation properties to the wealthy.

Potter announced last week he would be leaving Frontier Sept. 6 after about a dozen years, but didn’t say where he was headed.

To make room, current Exclusive Resorts CEO Donn Davis assumes the position of executive chairman. Potter will report to him.

The Denver-based company is majority-owned by Steve Case, the former AOL executive. In a statement, Case said the company is "very pleased to add a proven operating executive of the caliber of Jeff to our already world-class management team as we gear up for our next phase of growth.

In the same statement, Potter said "I am thrilled to join Exclusive Resorts, a dynamic, leading company that has created an entirely new industry, and is becoming the preferred way for affluent families to vacation. What makes the opportunity at Exclusive Resorts so special is the passion of its hundreds of employees who are dedicated to providing its members memorable vacations. I look forward to working with Donn and the entire team to continue the company’s remarkable success."

Potter leaves as Frontier faces challenges. Southwest Airlines has cut into Frontier’s low-fare business in Denver, and the company has been posting losses. The company’s share price is down 70 percent since Potter became CEO in 2002.

Exclusive Resorts has a $1 billion portfolio of more than 350 luxury residences, plus another 125 under construction.
