Lightning snarls SE light rail

Published August 3, 2007 at midnight

A lightning strike this afternoon near the end of the Southeast Light Rail Line has affected the power substation at Lincoln Station, an RTD spokesman said.

The Lincoln Station near Park Meadows along I-25 has lost power, but other rail stations remain in full operation.

The power loss is affecting light rail service along the southeast corridor as RTD is unable to get trains into and out of Lincoln Station on their normal schedules.

Crews are working on restoring power and hope to have service from Lincoln Station back in full operation by about 3:30, RTD spokesman Scott Reed said.
