Democrats are vowing to make the Democratic National Convention next summer the most Internet-savvy political gathering in memory.

On Thursday, the Democratic National Convention Committee appointed Jason Rosenberg as director of online communications for the convention. He will be in charge of the convention Web site, demconvention.com, and will oversee outreach to the online community.

Liberal Web sites such as -moveon.org and dailykos.com have become important vehicles for Democratic candidates to reach supporters and raise funds.

Rosenberg is expected to try to link those sites to the convention in new ways.
